Since 2013, Cologne’s Plainride have been chasing the sweet spot between raw power and wild imagination. Their songs hit with the force of a freight train – big riffs, soulful vocals, and sudden left turns that can lead anywhere from harmonica breaks to myth-soaked storytelling. Live, it’s sweat, grit, and grins all round – over 130 shows in 10 countries so far, from tiny clubs to festival stages, sharing bills with the likes of Corrosion of Conformity, The Vintage Caravan, and The Winery Dogs. Critics have compared them to a “German answer to Clutch,” but the band’s sound roams freely through proto-metal, stoner grooves, and 90s alt-rock, landing somewhere that’s entirely their own. Their self-titled third album (2023) marked a new high point, and with new singles dropping ahead of a 2026 album, Plainride are still turning the volume up.
